Rob Kooij

Rob Kooij received the M.Sc. degree in Mathematics at the Delft University of Technology in 1988. He obtained his Ph.D. degree (cum laude) in 1993 at the same faculty. His thesis dealt with qualitative theory of non-linear Dynamical Systems.

Since 1997 he is employed at TNO ICT (the former KPN Research), the largest ICT Research Institute in the Netherlands. His main research interest is Quality of Service for IP networks such as the Internet. His work mainly focuses on the quality of multi-media services as perceived by users and on modelling network quality at the packet level. He is active both in national research projects, e.g. EQUANET, as well as in international projects, such as MUSE. Rob has published several papers on quality aspects of Voice-over-IP, video and TCP performance. He also regularly gives guestlectures on telecommunications at universities throughout the Netherlands.

Since November 2005 he is a part-time associate professor in the Network Architectures and Services group where he works on the NWO project ROBUNET which deals with the robustness of large scale networks. More information can be obtained via the following links
